As an affiliate of the Bucks County Labor Council, we have two exciting opportunities to share with our members: The Bucks County Central Labor Council Scholarship Essay and the Fifth Annual Bucks CLC Ed Needham Golf Outing.
The 2025 Bucks County Central Labor Council Scholarship Essay
Deadline to Apply: TBA
Award: 1st Place - $1,000 and three 2nd Place awards: $500
Criteria: Applicants must be a Bucks County resident and a graduating high school senior of the class of 2026 accepted into a full-time accredited degree program or trade school. The applicant's parent, legal guardian, or grandparent must be a full dues-paying member of an affiliate union of the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO.

Sixth Annual Bucks CLC Ed Needham Golf Outing
Ed Needham Golf Outing benefits Unemployed Workers in the County, and it allows the Bucks Labor Council to give four scholarships to graduating students in Bucks County. This event is a great way to kick off the summer with some friends! Grab your favorite foursome and treat yourself to an amazing day on the links, all for a good cause. Entry Deadline: TBA
One benefit of belonging to AFT is that you and your dependents can apply for five college and post-secondary education scholarships designed exclusively for union members.
Deadlines are approaching for union scholarship programs, which provide thousands of dollars in scholarships each year. Over the years, students in the Neshaminy community have been very successful in winning these scholarships! Below is a brief description of each. Union Plus Scholarship Program
Deadline to Apply: TBA
Sponsored by the Union Plus Education Foundation. The program is open to members, spouses and dependent children of unions participating in any of the Union Plus programs. Amounts range from $500 to $4000. These one-time cash awards are for study beginning in the Fall of 2026. Students may reapply each year. Create an account to apply today!
This is a competitive scholarship. Applicants are evaluated according to academic ability, social awareness, financial need, and appreciation of labor. A GPA of 3.0 or higher is recommended. The required essays can account for up to half of your total score. Scholarship applicants are judged by a committee of impartial post-secondary educators.
Pennsylvania AFL-CIO Scholarship Essay Contest

The PA AFL-CIO Scholarship Essay Contest is a chance for students to learn more about the importance of Organized Labor in America. For over a decade, we have awarded thousands of dollars to students furthering their education. Scholarships are offered to students in 2 categories: Graduating High School Seniors (Class of 2025) and All Post-Secondary Students. Scholarships range from $1000 to $2000. This Scholarship application requires the signature of the NFT president.

AFT Robert G. Porter Scholars Program

To honor Robert G. Porter, the secretary-treasurer of the American Federation of Teachers from 1963 to 1991, the AFT awards four scholarships to accomplished high school students who show outstanding service to their community and an understanding of the role unions can play to create a more just society. Porter was a union activist who dedicated his life to championing the rights of working people, promoting civil rights, and ensuring that the union was a vehicle for fostering the professionalism of our members.
This program offers four, 4-year, $8,000 post-secondary scholarships to students who are dependents of AFT members, as well as 10, one-time $1000 grants to AFT members to assist with their continuing education.
Neshaminy Federation of Teachers Book Scholarship

The NFT and NFT-R offer graduating Neshaminy High School seniors the opportunity to win one of three $2000 book scholarships.
Students are asked to submit a one-page essay about how a Neshaminy School District staff member prepared them for or influenced the decisions they have made about their future educational/career plans.
